GOV’T SUPPLIES OVER 9,000 PALM SEEDLINGS FREE TO FARMERS IN ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH.

The Government of Ghana, through the Minerals Commission, has supplied over 9,792 palm seedlings since the first trench to farmers in Atwima Nwabiagya North.

The Alternative Livelihood Programme (ALP) of the Minerals Commission is set to reclaim lands lost to illegal mining activities known as (galamsey.

The program offers farmers at various illegal mining sites palm seedlings and other plants best for such destroyed lands.

ALP as an extended program reached farmers in Atwima Nwabiagya North on Thursday, 25th of April 2024, at the premises of the District Assembly, though not an illegal mining district but for local development.

 

Staff of the Agric Department in the district made sure farmers who arrived from all corners of the district received quantities due.

In speaking to this report, the Director of Agriculture, Mrs. Grace Achiaa, was grateful to the government and the Mineral Commission of Ghana for such a thoughtful alleviation and prayed beneficial farmers would make use of the seedlings and not exploit them.

She called on the youth to venture into agriculture, as the avenue has become more lucrative and technologically inclined to be part of.

Beneficial farmers could not hide their joy but to express it in words of gratitude to the government, the assembly, the department of agriculture, and all who played a role in the distribution of the seedlings.

AGRIC CLIMATE INNOVATION EXHIBITION HELD IN MARBAN

PHG Foundation Africa, an NGO has collaborated with the Dept. of Agriculture in the Atwima Nwabiagya North to hold an innovation exhibition for farmers and talented individuals in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of Marban community park.

The exhibition was held on Friday, 12th of April, 2024.

In the event were the Marbanhene who doubled as chairman for the event, Nana Okumanini Baah Asare II and chiefs, Marban queen mother, Marban Imam, Abdul Rahman Mohammed, District Information Officer, Mr Augustine Agyei, District Director of Agric, Mrs. Grace Achiaa and her Agric staff, farmers, Assembly member for Marban/Asenie/Barekese Electoral Area, Hon. Atta Kwasi and his Unit Committee members, PHG Team Members, and other interested individuals.

 

Farmers presented their craft works made from farm produces such as seasoning powders, fruit mix, bathing soaps and gels, fruit juices, Banku mix powder, and soil were earthenware, Gyapa coal pot, and from other creative items such as beads made bags, and more to the team for selection and support.

 

Chairman for the event who doubled as the Marbanhene expressed his profound gratification to the organisers and advised the youth to venture into other lucrative disciplines of businesses especially farming for it has countless advantages.

He opined that farming has seen lives transformed with and seeking employment at that sector will reduced government burden on unemployment rate in the country.

 

Agribusiness men and women present were excited and had a common goal that the foundation will acknowledged their hard work, more importantly government will put more than enough to enrich their farming business.

ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY CELEBRATED 67TH INDEPENDENCE DAY IN EPIC

The Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly has celebrated the 67th Independence Day in grand style with an impressive audience.At exactly 9:45am at Barekese Senior High School premises, Barekese circuit all dignitaries and all varied in the district were seated, ready to honour the festivity. District Coordinating Director (DCD) Mr. S.M Abdul-Rahman, Chief Superintendent Hilda Akarimanga, District Commander, the District Education Director, Mr. Frank Duah Boateng, Nana Osei Frimpong & entourage-representative of Barekesehene, Staffs, Assembly members, teachers, traders, ambulance services and everyone who formed part of the celebration were among the tall list of dignitaries that ensured that the national celebration became a glamour.

About Nineteen (19) schools were selected for the district to join in the district level commemoration. Eight (8) primary schools, eight (8) Junior High Schools, two senior high schools and one senior/technical school in the district namely Barekese Senior High (BASEC), Osei Tutu Senior High (OT) and Spiritan Senior Technical School were present. Parade was successful as BASEC provided cadet corps and a joint band from Hope American International School (HAIS).

In her absence the DCD addressed the gathering, Mr Abdul-Rahman, stressed on how valuable criticism has strengthened the country’s democracy. According to him, the peace the country has enjoyed has to do with the ‘democratic’ governance the country has adopted and citizens playing a unique role. Which he was very optimistic would better the country.

The DCD encouraged Ghanaians to resort to multi-party system and refrain from using violence to address issues. Representing the Barekesehene, Nana Osei Frimpong advised Ghanaian students to be more democratic and unified towards development for the country. He believed the youth were the generation to continue what would be left and has been left by heroes of the land as were honour the day.

At the end of the match past, various schools in primary and Junior High Schools category who earned points were awarded with balls, jerseys, and a participated certificate for wonderful display.Osei Tutu Senior High School and Barekese Senior High School (BASEC) tied at the second category whereas the Spiritan Senior/Technical School picked the ultimate prize in that category with a trophy, and a certificate.

INSTILL CLEANLINESS IN YOUR CHILDREN-MR BOATENG

The District Director of Education for Atwima Nwabiagya North Education Directorate (ANNED) of Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr. Frank Duah Boateng, has directed parents and guardians as well as teachers to instill a sense of cleanliness among young students.

According to him, when students and youth in general are taught and trained on how to care for their homes and environment, it forms part of their lives. As said, “train up the child the way it should go so when it grows up it won’t depart from it.”

Mr Boateng was optimistic that the future lies with the youth, and they must be made to become part of the sanitation problem to address other challenged issues.

He made this on Friday, 22nd of March, 2024, during a clean-up exercise held as part of His Royal Majesty Otumfour’s anniversary and a directive received from GES.

More importantly, historians reveal that Barekese formed part of the Asante history during the British War and the exercise was worthy.

Students who took part in the exercise were thankful to His Royal Majesty the Asantehene, Assembly, Directorate, and affected organisers for a successful exercise and pleaded with the government to work around the clock for teachers to be back in the classroom.

9TH INAUGURATION OF MMDAs HELD.

The Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly which was carved out of now Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal has become part of the 9th Inaugural ceremony held for 259 out of 261 MMDAs across Ghana on Monday, 12th February, 2024.

 

History affirms that decentralisation was started in the year 1988 with 110 Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and has now reached two hundred and sixty-one (261) entirely.

In the peak of the local governance system, an Act was made to govern it’s delivery, which is local governance Act 936 (2016).

It is stipulated in the Act 936 (2016) Section 6 (1), that “Elections to District Assemblies shall be held once every four year”.

Indicating that after every four years an assembly is dissolved and inaugurated based on an election held with a presiding member elected to lead the caucus.

 

Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly partook in the inauguration at the District Assembly’s Conference Hall and was attended by Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, Minister for Transport doubling as the President’s representative, Hon. Frank Yeboah, Parliamentary Candidate Elect for Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency (ANNC), Her Honour (H/H) Nana Adwoa Serwaa Dua-adonteng, and in the absence of the DCE, Hon. Rebecca Yeboah, Mr S.M Abdul Rahman, District Coordinating Director (DCD) represented Chief Supt. Hilda Akarimanga, Bohyen Command, Nana Gyedu Kumanin IV, Amakye-Barehene and elders, Religious heads, Staff, Assembly members, family members, supporters, and others who matter.

In his address, Hon. Asiamah congratulated elected Assembly members for a good fight and commended the Electoral Commission for it’s successful election amidst numerous challenges.

 

He advised the Assembly members to go by their duties as enshrined in the Local governance Act 936 (2016).

The Minister for Transport tasked them to work in unity among each other and for the Assembly to realize it’s objectives.

He assured the board of the Assembly that a capacity building would be held so they could work and deliver effectively.

The Cabinet Minister, charged them to bring on board innovative ways to boost the Assembly’s internally generated fund (IGF) since the expected District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) currently has its challenges.

Adding to the remarks, the DCD prayed members would exercise a strong bond of unity, harmony, and a gearing force towards the realizations of the Assembly’s agenda and goal.

Seventeen (17) Assembly members and thirty percent (30%) appointees from the president, according to the constitution, which made up a total of twenty-five (25) Assembly members, were sworn in without the election of a presiding member, which adjourned the sitting for the day.

Assembly members who shared their thoughts with this write-up expressed words of gratitude to the government, their electorates, the management of the district assembly, chiefs, and entirely those who formed part of that success story.

FOOD SYSTEM RESILIENCE PROJECT (FSRP)

Food System Resilience Project under the auspices of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has commenced a field demonstration exercise with rice farmers in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District on the plantation of different rice and the use of both organic and inorganic fertilizers for enhanced yield Thursday, January 17, 2024.
The activity brought together the Ashanti Regional Extension officer and his team, Fertilizer companies (Green Fert, NPK and others), rice growers from various communities, selected staff of the Agric Department, Extension officer, Information Services Department, and others that formed part of the demonstration.

Look at Israel and Palestine, Russia and Ukraine war, Gaza wars, all have not made a good, and positive impact on mother earth. When you let go, you’re at peace. When you say, I forgive..you are at peace, when you don’t retaliate nothing will happen to you, in fact you will be respected and see as honourable. 2024 Information Services Department say let’s preach peace, stay in peace and see ourselves next year.

HON. FRANK YEBOAH DONATES TO ASUOFUA POLYCLINIC

Hon. Frank Yeboah, Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency Parliamentary Candidate Hopeful has put smiles and warm appreciations on the administration, users of Asoufua Polyclinic through a commission of a world class pavilion for the health center.
According to him, the pavilion will provide enough shade, health provision and rest for health attendants and authorities as well.
Hon. Yeboah proceeded to Essaso to handover a long unrepaired water borehole for the community.
The people, chiefs, authorities and all sundry praised the Parliamentary Candidate Hopeful and prayed it never ends there.
As his foundation stands in education, championed the cause in spelling bee and on Saturday, 16th December, 2023 during the 2023 Grand finally in Osei Tutu Senior High School at Akropong, he awarded Darbaa D/A JHS for emerging as winners of the competition with a set of exercise books, tablets for the winning team, a cash prize, and other prices worth thousands of Ghana cedis to other contesting schools.
According to him, his services to the people of Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency is a topmost priority and he would go beyond anything to assist his constituents in all matters of urgency.
Hon. Isaac Ohemeng Prempeh, Presiding Member for the Assembly representing the Hon. DCE wished him well in his political endeavor.
Assembly members for Asoufua, Hon. Osei Kwaku Michael and Essaso – Adankwame Hon. Prince Tweneboah Kodua expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Parliamentary Candidate Hopeful for the gesture.
They tasked all sundry to practice the culture of maintenance and demonstrate love for the country.
