The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atwima Nwabiagya North District, Hon. Rebecca Yeboah, has honoured persons with disabilities (PWD) with items worth thousands of Ghana cedis in the district.

Items included, two (2) chest freezer, fufu pounding machine, hair drying machine, industrial machine, Parazone, and cash to beneficiaries.

The event took effect on Tuesday, 23rd July, 2024 at the forecourt of the District Assembly, with the Able DCE, Hon. Rebecca Yeboah, Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency Chairman, Hon. Alhaji Abdul-Salam Issah, Hon. Francis Bobie-Ansah, Presiding Member for Atwima Nwabiagya North District, Social Service Convenor, Hon. Osei Kwaku Michael, District Coordinating Director, Mr S.M Abdul Rahman, Head and Staff of Social Welfare and Community Development, District Information Officer, Mr Augustine Agyei, and beneficiaries were in attendence.

In her address, the DCE praised the government for making the disabled able and capable to depend on themselves. She admonished beneficiaries not to misuse or mishandle the items but to use for it’s intended purposes.

The beneficiaries speaking to the report expressed heartwarming gratitude to the government, the DCE, and all persons who have put smiles on their homes and families.

Board members for Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly has on Tuesday, 11th June, 2024 elected the former Assembly man for Akropong Electoral Area, once Akropong Area Council Chairman, three times Government Appointee as the current Presiding Member for the next two years of the Assembly’s businesses.

As an unopposed candidate, he was faced with twenty-seven (27) votes cast, which included the DCE and MP, and out of the results, had six (6) members who voted NO, one absentee member, one with no vote (MP), and nineteen (19) members who voted YES, declaring him victorious.

Based on the Assembly members model of standing and LG Act 2016 (Act 936) the District Electoral Commission Officer, Ms. Mercy Oppong Afreh declared him winner of the day’s occasion.

The Akropong Circuit Court Judge, Her Honour (H/H) Adwoa Serwaa Dua-adonteng, per protocol, swore in the newly elected Presiding Member (PM) in all oaths that mattered to usher in his business legitimately.

In his address, Hon. Bobie-Ansah thanked his maker, fellow members, staff, friends both far and near, advisors, and all who partook in the glamour. He assured of cooperation, collaboration, transparency, accountability, and all others that would make his tenure a memory.

Members and staff in turn, congratulated the new PM and wished him success in his office for the ensuing years.

Having taken the seat as PM it was very necessary that sub-structural committees be formed and was done at ease.

INFORMATION SERVICES DEPT. (ISD)

The Information Services Department of the Atwima Nwabiagya North District has collaborated with the Business Advisory Center (BAC), Nwabiagya Rural Bank (NRB), and Office of the Registrar of Companies to educate as well as get artisans in tailoring, dressing making, hair dressers, beauticians and others their business registered.

The event happened on Monday, 10th June, 2024 at the SDA Nursing and Midwifery College in Barekese.

In the programme held by the Information Services Department (ANNDA) were, representatives from the Office of the Registrar of Companies, Representatives from the Nwabiagya Rural Bank, and Representatives from the District Assembly (Revenue, Birth and Death registry, Accounts).

Participants had experts taken through the registration of business as sole proprietorship, limited, partnership etc. business expansion protocols, services on birth and death, permit and others from stakeholders present.

It was more than opportunity for artisans to be informed and as much had questionable thoughts answered.

At the end of the event, about sixty (60) skilled craft men and women had their business registered and renewed.

Participants from Barekese, Achiase, Asoufua, Tabere, Koforidua, Fufuo, Marban, Amakye-Bare, Adankwame, Essaso and other communities commended the Information Services Department for such a wonderful treat of engagement, to stakeholders for been present when they needed. They assured of cooperation and partnering.

Government’s intervention is for all sectors to thrive not leaving out the informal sector of becoming robust in business as well improve status of the economy and at such has partnered with Mastcard Foundation with sponsorship from the World Bank on programme dubbed “Business in a box”.

A programme that transforms an apprentice to entrepreneur (A2E), youth in agriculture become entrepreneurs (AA2E), support women who owed businesses thrive (MBA) and much more importantly train interested Ghanaians in tailoring, hair dressing, beautician, welding, and other artisanal works.

The said intervention programme is tailored for five (5) years with either expansion, suspension or closure.

On Tuesday, 4th of June, 2024 selected applicants were taken through a day overview of the whole programme and later registered unto the system.

Over one hundred (100) selected Masters and apprentice in tailoring, hair dressing, beautician and others gathered for the exercise which went on smoothly and successful.

Selected apprentices would be under the supervision of a Master and the office of the BAC for six (6) months with continuous assessment from both supervisors and afterwards taken through NVTI examination and upon graduation award them with equipment to start their own business.

Head of the Business Advisory Center (BAC), Mrs Priscilla Opoku-Mensah, advised the chosen ones to conduct themselves very well in both hands and to the unchosen ones there would be an opportunity.

Masters and apprentices expressed their unwavering gratitude to government, DCE, GEA and all other stakeholders for their thought over them.

They assured of being a role model tl government and all at large.

The Honourable DCE for Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly, Rebecca Yeboah has organized a maiden clean-up exercise in Asoufua as part of her district wide clean-up initiative.

The initiative according to her will be held every last Friday of every month.

Hon. Yeboah said this during a massive cleanup activity held on Friday, 26th April, 2024 as Asoufua in the Atwima Nwabiagya North.

The exercise brought together the DCE, Hon. Rebecca Yeboah, Asoufuahemaa Nana Baanie Ahenkan II, staff of the district, Asoufua Assemblyman, Hon. Osei Kwaku Michael, Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency, Hon. Abdul-Salam, DCD, Mr S.M Abdul Rahman, town folks, Information Services Department, Police, Zoomlion, and all others who matter in the exercise.

Speaking to the report, Hon. DCE expressed how developments have progress under the government in the area of roads of which her district has benefitted and ready to benefit another.

She therefore entreated everyone to patronize the activity at the terminal and not pick transport from the road side and any driver apprehended will face the law.

Hon. Yeboah cautioned onlookers, drivers, traders, pedestrians, and individuals not to dump rubbish haphazardly for it only choke drains resulted in flood and other unwarranted disasters rather in bins and other regulated dumping sites.

She was grateful to her staff for the support, the party, Asoufua Obaapanin, Assembly member and his Unit Committee members, and people of Asoufua not leaving out everyone who made the event more than a success.

In an interview, the Assembly man for the electoral area, Hon. Osei Kwaku Michael expressed a heartfelt of gratitude to all and sundry and asked his people to be law abiders whereas government be more enforcer of the law.

He added, through the Pentecost Church Asoufua wings the community has trash bins which would be placed at various vantage point so waste could be dumped in.

Nana Baanie Ahenkan II, Asoufua Obaapanin commended the DCE, staff and all sundry for a watchful scene of cleanup exercise held in her community. she prayed more of such would implemented elsewhere for the good of our country.
