ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH HEALTH DIRECTORATE (ANNHD) UNDER GHANA HEALTH SERVICE (GHS) HAS LUNCHED NETWORK OF PRACTICE (NoP) PROGRAMME FOR QUALITY HEALTH DELIVERY.

On Tuesday, the 28th of January 2025, the Atwima Nwabiagya North Health Directorate under the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and Ministry of Health (MoH) lunched and commenced the Network of Practice programme at the District Office.

The programme according to the District Director of Health, Mr. Eric Sarpong is meant to provide quality and of high repute health care to patients in the district.

He emphasized that, the programme was going to eased some economical hardship on patients who had to make transit from hospitals and other various distanced health centers for treatment when it can be handled ‘locally’.

Mr Sarpong, explained that the new model has created a central health point (hub) where severe health cases that is capped on other health centers be referred to for onward health provision.

The District Director on Health urged and encouraged stakeholders and teams to make the programme a success through available resources provided.

The District Coordinating Director and Ag. DCE for Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly reiterated how important the programme is to the District and charged all health workers and centers to make high input in the programme.

He assured stakeholders of the Assembly’s readiness to support in various resources deem satisfactory to the programme in the district.

Stakeholders discussions and other concerns were made in order to safeguard and bring the programme to a high repute.

RIGHT TO INFORMATION COMMISSION OF ASHANTI REGIONAL BRANCH PAYS A WORKING VISIT TO ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

On Tuesday 26th November, 2024 there were officers from the Right to Information Commission of Ashanti Regional branch stationed in Kumasi paying a visit to the Atwima Nwabiagya North District.

 

The main objective of the visit was to monitor and evaluate the operations of the Right to information officer in the institution as well as how information on RTI law is handled in the institution generally.

DIALOGUE HELD IN ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH

On the 19th day of November 2024, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Atwima Nwabiagya North Municipal held a dialogue with Parliament candidates of the various political parties, observers, and concerned voters (residents) in the Atwima Nwabiagya North Municipal.

The meeting was held at the conference hall of the municipality.
Mr. Emmanuel Appiah, the Municipal Director for NCCE, educated the various parliamentary candidates, observers, and residents on the 2024 election protocols and concerns and how important it is for voters to exercise their franchise. He advised the political parties and representatives to ensure that their members make the election peaceful.


Mr. Appiah urged voters to go all out and vote for their favorite candidate since that is their utmost right in the constitution.
Representing the parliamentary candidates were the New Patriotic Party, Independent Candidate, and the New Force.
Frank Yeboah, the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party in the constituency, had the opportunity to roll out his policies and his intentions to the good people in the constituency when voted into power. He talked about education, security, health, the economy, and other policies in the constituency and promised to work when voted into power. He rolled out many other policies that he has for the people in the constituency.


So was the opportunity given to other parliamentary candidates to put before the gatherers their policies as well as seek their vote in the upcoming general election.


A good number of the residents in the constituency or municipality who were invited to the seminar were also given the chance to speak out and put out their concerns plus other unknown issues to the parliamentary candidates present.
They were assured of getting their concerns addressed when they voted for any one of them to power.

DRESSMAKERS AND TAILORS BECOME MASTERS TODAY

The Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA), Achiase Branch, has held its 2nd graduation ceremony for eleven (11) apprentices in the area.
The event happened on Sunday, 27th October 2024, at Nketia Town Partk in the Achiase Electoral Area of ATWIMA Nwabiagya North District.


In attendance were the Assembly member for the electoral area, Hon. Saeed Muniru Yahaya, who doubled as chairman for the event, Mr. Augustine Agyei, District Information Officer, and Special Guest, the Parliamentary Candidate for ATWIMA Nwabiagya North Constituency, Hon. Frank Yeboah, as well as Party faithful.

Speaking at the event, the chairman and assemblyman for the area, Hon. Yahaya, encouraged graduates for how far they have come and challenged them to be more than what they have learned or been taught. He urged them to be more professional over profit as the field has become profitable with little over quality and standard.

Hon. Yahaya was pleased with the organisation and cautioned participants to rally behind him in executing a successful chairmanship. Hon. Frank Yeboah, PC for ATWIMA Nwabiagya North Constituency, assured the graduate of his commitment to support them whenever they call on him.


He made mention of what the government has done and called for their vote, as the party intends to do more when handed power in the coming election. He supported the program with an amount of two thousand Ghana cedis (GH 2,000).
Graduating artisans were extremely grateful to all stakeholders and prayed to adhere to all counsel said to them.
Participants commended the Assembly, PC, Nananom, and all others who really worked to make their program a success.

2024 STAKEHOLDERS FORUM

The Atwima Nwabiagya North, in partnership with Rock Foundation (an NGO based in Ghana), has held a stakeholder forum for opinion leaders, traders, farmers, religious heads, and all other citizen representatives in the district.
The forum was to solicit ideas on how to improve local development as well as national and local representation over what the assembly has achieved so far; it was carried out of now Atwima Nwabiagya South.

 

The event was put in two (2) parts, Thursday, October 17th, and Friday, October 18th, at two separate venues. (Asuofua and Darbaa)
In various presentations, the facilitator demonstrated mustering for the success of the event.
Stakeholders shared solid views on how local governance could be developed and critiqued developments for the betterment of knowledge and the way forward.
Participants were grateful for the engagement and prayed for a continuous engagement to better inform citizens as well as improve development.

As part of a budgetary ritual in transparency and accountability and use of the public funds, the Atwima Nwabiagya North District has partaken in the 2025 budget hearing for the fiscal year at Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly, Kodie, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
In accompaniment to the hearing were the District Coordinating Director, and representing the DCE, Mr. S.M. Abdul Rahman, Hon. Francis Bobie-Ansah, Presiding Member, Akropong Akwaamuhene, Nana Ataani Amankwah Apam, Heads of Department/Directorates, Religious heads/representatives, Assembly members/convenor, and related opinion members.

The exercise had presentations from Offinso Municipal Assembly, Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly, Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly, Offinso North District Assembly, and others.
Assemblies present took to turn in presenting their prepared budget for the fiscal year 2025 and had its documents critiqued for onward correction.
Participants, observers, and stakeholders from the regional office were satisfied with the proceedings. They were grateful.

TWO DAYS CAPACITY BUILDING HELD FOR ASSEMBLY MEMBERS

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD), in partnership with
The Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS) has held a two-day capacity building for Assembly members in Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly as part of their nationwide orientation on Friday, 4th, and Saturday, 5th October 2024, at the district assembly’s conference hall.

In the event were officials from the Ministry and the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS), newly elected and appointed Assembly Members of various electoral areas, District Coordinating Director, Mr. S.M. Abdul Rahman, Deputy Director, Ms. Adwoa Konadu Yiadom, District Information Officer, Mr. Augustine Agyei, and related stakeholders.

 


In his opening remarks, the District Coordinating Director (DCD), Mr. S.M. Abdul Rahman, urged participants to make input and contribute where necessary for the benefit of the orientation and assembly.
In the event, matters involving conflicting members were brought to light, which helped in the deliberation.
Participants were grateful to all parities for the orientation. They were optimistic that the learning would be of much impact on their day-to-day encounter with electorates.

ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH D/A JOINS THE WORLD TO CELEBRATE RABIES DAY IN GRANDS.

On 28th of September 2024 the world marked rabies day and Ghana as part of the celebration host its celebration in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District particularly Asuofua.

In the event were the Regional Veterinary Officer, Ms. Mabel Abudu, Regional Information Officer, Nana Akrasi Sarpong, Hon. Francis Bobie-Ansah, Presiding Member for Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly, District Coordinating Director, Mr S.M Abdul Rahman (also representing the DCE) District Director of Education, Mr Frank Duah Boateng, District Director of Health, Mr Eric Sarpong, District Director of Agriculture, Ms Grace Achiaa, Heads of various departments and unit of the Assembly, staff of the veterinary and agric officers, representatives from USAID, FAO, WHO, NADMO, ISD, Nananom, and invited as well as uninvited guests.

Representatives and dignitaries present had a common message to the world and nation, that rabies is 100% preventable with right mechanisms in place.

They urged all stakeholders to collaborate and fight against the ‘deadly virus’.

Speaking on behalf of DCE, Mr Abdul Rahman expressed the readiness of the Assembly towards preventing the ‘killable’ virus. He was optimistic that all stakeholders would rally behind the Assembly into realizing it’s objective, mission and vision including rabies achieved.

Ms. Abudu, R.V.O. urged stakeholders particularly pet owners to be more ‘responsible’ in the care of their pets. She cautioned any irresponsibility made could make a person lose his or her life and as well cost the nation.

Chairperson and Queen mother for Asoufua Traditional Council, Nana Banie Ahenkan II, pleaded with government to bring back the ‘free vaccination’ of pets which for decades now is nonoperational.

She cautioned all pet owners to adhere to all protocols demonstrated in the event. Take into consideration education made on all platforms to achieve the 2030 goal.

Pet owners present and all other persons who had free rabies vaccination for their dogs praised the government, and entirely for the event.

TWO HEALTH FACILITIES IN ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH HEALTH DIRECTORATE RECEIVES ITEMS WORTH OVER THOUSANDS OF GHANA CEDIS

An NGO based in the United States of America (USA), Nyansapo Health Care has donated items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to the Asuofua Poly Clinic and Barekese Health Facility to assist with quality health delivery in the area.
The items donated were a cardiac monitor, defibrillator, surgical gloves, kidney dish, cotton wool, glucometer strips, Omron BP apparatus, pulse oximeter, Foetal doppler, dissecting forceps, and many other equipment, materials, and tools, all in quantities at Asuofua on Wednesday, 25th September, 2024.


In his address, Mr Eric Sarpong, the District Health Director, cautioned staff and facilities to make use of the items donated while keeping in mind the longevity of the equipment, tools, and materials. He prayed it will serve its purpose and assist the health facility to deliver quality health care.

 

In the presentation, Ms. Gifty Yeboah Agyeman, who championed the whole process, was grateful to the NGO, the two health facilities’ heads, and the Directorate and assured to assist with maintenance of the tools, equipment, and materials for longevity.
The administrator and staff of the Asuofua Polyclinic were thankful to the NGO, Ms Gifty Yeboah Agyemang, and all others who have made it possible.

ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY COMMISSIONS DRIP MACHINERY FOR ROAD DEVELOPMENT.

The DCE, Hon. Rebecca Yeboah for Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly, was joined by the Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources to commission the DRIP machinery on Thursday, 19th September 2024, at Adankwame Catholic Church premises.

On July 31, 2024, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, launched the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) to assist and decentralize development in every district.

Machinery lunched and distributed were: bulldozers, tipper trucks, concrete mixers, excavators, graders, backhoes, rollers, water tankers, and many other heavy equipment coupled with other resources for the execution and development of road networks in the 261 districts across all 16 regions.


Speaking at the event, Hon. Yeboah praised the government for a wonderful deed of work. She was optimistic that the machines would work tirelessly to improve the road networks in the district.


She cautioned drivers and all other stakeholders to ensure standardised use of the machinery to prolong it’s lifespan.
The government representative for the district, Hon. DCE spelt out the achievements since the district was carved out from now Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal Assembly (Nkawie), which received numerous acknowledgements.

Mounting the platform, MP for Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency (ANNC), Hon. Benito Owusu-Bio, said political affiliation disrupt development.


According to him, drivers have been trained and would prayed to any government does not disrupt the programme by changing drivers, and all other lead teams of the programme rather allowed the project to be without financial loss to the state.
He went further to advise district assemblies, agencies, consultants, and all to be part in maintaining the machinery.
Nananom, Religious leaders, and participants at the event had a common voice: that the project has come to stay and must be well used.
